6 Ways to Preserve Your Wedding Bouquet + Flowers | Epoch Co+

The wedding day is approaching and you have all the details perfectly planned - but, have you considered what you will be doing with your bouquet? You do not want to wait until the evening of or day-after your wedding to realize you have no plans for the bridal bouquet! Below are some ideas we have seen and LOVE to preserve that special piece of your wedding day look.

FREEZE-DRY BRIDAL BOUQUET

This can be pretty costly, but will help preserve both the look and vibrancy of your florals. Ask your florist if this is something they can do in-house or if they have a local contact that can assist with this. Typically the bouquet is sprayed with starch and then freeze-dried to remove all the moisture. Put it in a keepsake box frame and display that beauty on an entry table, on a wall, fireplace or decorative shelf.

HANG UPSIDE DOWN

Looking for a cheap and easy route? You can’t go wrong with drying the bouquet yourself. Hang it upside down in a dark, cool space - like a closet - and wait for the moisture to be removed. This can take days or months depending on the florals used. The florals will be crispy and the colors will be altered, but it can still be a great way to preserve a precious piece.

PAINTING

Hire someone to create a custom painting of your bridal bouquet as a timeless piece of art forever commemorating your wedding day. It would make a great addition to a gallery wall celebrating your new chapter in life. We have found that Etsy has a plethora of talented vendors offering this feature. Greatest part? You don’t have to actually send them your bouquet! Most can make do with a beautiful image from your wedding photographer. So give those babies a fresh slanted chop on the stems and plop in fresh water on your dining table to enjoy for a bit longer.

EMBROIDERY

We absolutely love this option! There are some talented artists on Instagram and Etsy that can turn your bouquet into an embroidered piece of art. Whether you opt for an embroidery hoop to hang on the wall, christmas ornament, tea towel, etc. Embroidery is a great option to preserve the image of your bouquet in a new art form. There is something so timeless about embroidered art, and again, you can enjoy your blooms in a fresh vase and allow the memory to live on through the embroidery crafted through a wedding day image. No crazy logistics or overnight shipping costs involved.

PRESSED BOUQUET

Pressing a bouquet is our absolute fave!!! Hands down. This can be done in a variety of ways. If you are the DIY type, you can pluck a few of your favorite blooms, pressed them in a heavy book and then opt to display them in some stellar frames. Think of combing some pressed blooms with a picture of you two on the big day, or a copy of your wedding invitation as a keepsake box.

One bride of ours took her blooms and displayed them in three various clear frames that she used to decorate their new home with, similar to the singular large frame pictured here.

Ivy Floral is a local Texas Florist that offers pressed floral frames featuring blooms from you bridal bouquet that would make the perfect addition to your home decor.

Another option is to have your blooms pressed in an artful way that closely resembles your wedding day bouquet. We have seen this done in a frame or 3D versions on a canvas.

RESIN

Resin is a unique option you can attempt to DIY or hire a professional. From paper weights, christmas ornaments, letter shapes, ring holders and more, resin can be used in a fun way to preserve your bridal blooms! Bowkay Preserves is a Keller, Texas based artist that offers resin services. Whether you overnight your bouquet to them, or allow them to recreate with the same flowers locally sourced, they can help you preserve the memory of your wedding day flowers.

No matter which road you take, you can’t go wrong. Even if it simply involves giving the blooms a fresh cut and putting in water to enjoy the remainder of the week.

If you have found a fun or creative way to preserve wedding day flowers, send it our way! We are always looking for ways to inspire our clients and future newlyweds!
