Moody Meets Modern: Jenn & Ken’s Refined, Wanderlust-Fueled Austin Wedding
When Jenn, a dedicated doctor, and Ken, a Google employee and PhD student, approached us for their wedding, we knew it would be something truly special. They wanted an event that felt personal, intimate, and unique to them—no traditional wedding elements, just something that reflected their personalities and love story.
Enter our signature branding process—designed to uncover the essence of who you are and translate it into a living, breathing wedding. With their global curiosity and love of all things rich and romantic, we landed on a design language that fused Gatsby-era elegance with modern wanderlust.
A Ceremony That Felt Like Them
Outside under wide Texas skies, Jenn and Ken exchanged vows surrounded by florals from Grand Lady Floral. The florist created moody, sculptural arrangements that framed the ceremony space in rich, textural color of deep burgundy, inky plum, and dark olive. A close friend officiated, keeping the moment grounded and personal—never performative.
Our role? Ensuring that from layout to florals to timing, every design choice contributed to the experience, not just the photos.
Cocktail Hour: Velvet, Neon, and That Slow Exhale
After the ceremony, as the sun dipped, guests were invited to cocktail hour, which felt like a modern speakeasy—velvet seating, sculptural florals, and a custom neon glow. It was the kind of setting where time slows down, where a second drink feels like a must, and conversation comes easy. Every element, down to the texture of the linens and the arc of the furniture layout, was layered to invite comfort and connection.
Fly Away With Me: A Seating Chart Worth Traveling For
No printed lists or acrylic plinths here. Instead, guests were guided to their tables via paper champagne coupe silhouettes suspended midair, each marked with a guest’s name and a dream-worthy destination. "Fly Away With Me," a nod to Sinatra and the couple’s love of travel, hovered above the display. We love when form meets storytelling—and this was that, in spades.
The Dinner: Intimate, Intentional, and Family-Style
Inside, dinner was served family-style—another intentional choice. Rather than keeping guests in their corners, it encouraged conversation and connection. Jenn’s mother stitched custom napkins for each place setting, adding a layer of sentiment that grounded the design in something real.
Design isn’t always about statement pieces. Sometimes, it’s about the quieter details—the ones only guests at the table get to experience.
A Dance Floor With Main Character Energy
The custom dance floor became the nucleus of the celebration. It wasn’t just a place to dance—it was a gravitational pull. Once opened, it didn’t sit empty—because when the layout works and the transitions flow, guests move seamlessly from dinner to dancing. And they did. When Jenn and Ken stepped onto it for their first dance, the energy shifted. Moments later, it was packed with guests who didn’t leave until the final spark.
Wedding Gelato (Yes, Please)
As the evening wore on and Austin’s heat lingered in the air, guests were treated to a sweet surprise. We had a local Austin wedding gelato cart serving a cool treat for guests to enjoy—an idea that was as functional as it was fun. Pistachio, sea salt caramel, and stracciatella offered a refreshing alternative to late-night cake.
Unexpected, crowd-pleasing, and practical? We’ll take it
The Finale: Cold Sparks, Warm Hearts
They didn’t want fireworks. They wanted something cooler—literally. The evening closed with a cold spark sendoff—high-impact, low-drama, and camera-ready. A canopy of cold sparks lit up the night as Jenn and Ken made their final exit, the light reflecting off champagne glasses, silk dresses, and the faces of people they love most.
This wasn’t just an Austin wedding. It was a story told in layers—floral, tactile, soulful.
And this is what we do as wedding planners and designers: we listen between the lines. We pull inspiration from the way you live and love, and then we build a world around it—one moment, one detail, one unforgettable guest experience at a time. Jenn and Ken’s wedding was proof that you don’t need a packed timeline or a production-heavy day to create something extraordinary. You just need clarity, great collaborators, and a team who knows how to execute every moving part with purpose.
Looking for wedding planners in Austin Texas (but do destination weddings, too) who don’t just design events, but architect atmospheres? You’re in the right place.

The Vibe
Drawing inspiration from the opulence of the Great Gatsby era, we incorporated rich, dark floral arrangements and dramatic lighting to create an atmosphere that was both romantic and sophisticated. This was beautifully complemented by the couple’s love for travel, reflected in unique elements like a custom seating chart featuring champagne coupes and destination table names, inviting guests to "fly away" to their tables. The overall aesthetic was modern yet timeless, with hints of luxury, whimsy, and personal touches. A neon sign featuring the couple's names added a contemporary edge, while the custom-designed dance floor and personalized details, like Jenn’s mom’s hand-made napkins, brought warmth and sentimentality to the celebration. The design seamlessly blended these elements to create an unforgettable experience that perfectly reflected Jenn and Ken’s personalities and love for both adventure and intimate connection.
