Riviera Maya Destination Wedding Resort | Rosewood Mayakoba

We had the pleasure of experiencing Rosewood Mayakoba first hand, and if I could live there full time, I would. Rosewood Mayakoba is a dream destination wedding resort nestled along the pristine shores of the Riviera Maya, offering couples a multitude of magical settings for their multi-day wedding weekend celebration. Here's a few reasons why we think it's the perfect place to say "I do":

Exquisite Natural Beauty: Set amidst lush emerald jungles, pristine white sands, and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, Rosewood Mayakoba provides a breathtaking backdrop for weddings. Whether exchanging vows on the beach, amidst the tropical gardens, or overlooking the ocean, couples are surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty at every turn. We found most of the places we visited were pretty limited in their event venues and their varying aesthetics. If you are looking for a single day wedding experience, then you have quite a few places to choose from. If you are looking for a venue and resort to host multiple events where they aren’t in the same spot or same vibe, and can give completely different looks from each event, ie, welcome party, rehearsal dinner, wedding day, post-event brunch, and any sort of group bonding activities in-between, then Rosewood Mayakoba is THE spot.

Luxurious Accommodations: The resort offers luxurious accommodations for couples and their guests, ranging from spacious suites to private villas with plunge pools and stunning views. Each room is elegantly appointed with modern amenities and thoughtful touches, ensuring a comfortable and unforgettable stay for all. What makes this place even more special is the Mayakoba region is also connected to other resorts that make room blocks for guests with a less expansive budget an option without feeling left out of the festivities.

World-Class Cuisine: With seven restaurants, bars, and pop-up experiences, Rosewood Mayakoba takes guests on a culinary journey inspired by the diverse traditions and flavors of Mexico. From gourmet dining to casual fare, every meal is a celebration of gastronomic excellence, ensuring that wedding guests are treated to an unforgettable dining experience. Their mixologists are also pure geniuses. With a few notes on cocktails and liquors I enjoy, they were able to whip up the most divine drink to pair with our dinner. I appreciate great food AND great drinks outside of just wine, so this stood out to our team as a wonderful touch and attention to detail.

Exclusive Wedding Venues: We mentioned this above, but Rosewood Mayakoba boasts a variety of stunning venues for wedding ceremonies and receptions, each offering its own unique charm and ambiance. Whether couples envision an intimate ceremony overlooking the lagoon, a romantic garden affair, or a lavish beachside celebration under the stars, there's a venue to suit every couple's vision. Their greenhouse-esque garden, La Cieba, is one of our favorite spots! With custom-made tables that can perfectly set atop the raised vegetable and herb gardens, guests can truly embrace a farm-to-table dining experience, enjoying the dishes made using the very vegetables and herbs guests are dining over on the clear top tables, under the stars.

You also can’t forget their charming indoor-outdoor Palapa space with it’s thatched roof and open-air design allowing guests to experience the gentle breezes and lush surroundings of the resort's tropical paradise. Perfect for cocktail hours and dance receptions, this option exudes an ambiance of laid-back luxury, while still providing the utmost in comfort and sophistication. If you are dreaming of a grand dance floor installation, this venue option is the perfect setting!

Personalized Service: From the moment couples begin planning their wedding to the last dance of the evening, Rosewood Mayakoba's dedicated team of wedding professionals work effortlessly alongside your wedding planning team to ensure that every detail is perfect. With personalized attention and impeccable service, couples can relax and enjoy their special day knowing that everything is taken care of.

Unforgettable Experiences: In addition to the wedding festivities, Rosewood Mayakoba offers a wealth of activities and experiences for couples and their guests to enjoy. From relaxing spa treatments to exciting excursions, there's something for everyone to make the most of their time in paradise.

One of our favorites is their sound bath offering. Sound Baths can be an invaluable tool for couples, and their wedding parties/guests as they prepare for or recover from a wedding weekend filled with excitement, celebration, and perhaps a bit of exhaustion. Here's how:

Pre-Wedding Preparation: Leading up to the big day, the couple and guests may be feeling a mix of anticipation, nerves, and excitement. A sound bath offers a sanctuary of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of wedding preparations, providing an opportunity to center themselves, release tension, and cultivate a sense of inner peace and clarity.

As they immerse themselves in the soothing vibrations of the sound bath, everyone can let go of stress and anxiety, allowing themselves to fully relax and recharge. This can be particularly beneficial in the days leading up to the wedding, when emotions may be running high and there's a lot to do. Our team does an immense amount of prep leading up to the wedding week, with the goal being to allow the couple and their families to fully focus on their travels, guests arriving, and getting settled. However, no matter how much prep goes into the event, we always warn that the week of the wedding someone ultimately has a meltdown. (We aren’t pointing fingers, but its usually the grooms mom haha) And offering any chance of tranquility and peace, especially to those closest to the soon-to-be-newlyweds can diffuse any of the tensions that may be on the verge of surfacing.

Post-Wedding Recovery: After a weekend of festivities, including sun-soaked days, celebratory drinks, and dancing into the wee hours of the morning, the newlyweds and guests may be feeling physically and emotionally drained. A sound bath offers a gentle yet powerful way to support their bodies and minds as they recover from the whirlwind of the wedding weekend.

The healing vibrations of the sound bath can help to soothe tired muscles, alleviate headaches, and promote relaxation, allowing everyone to unwind and release any lingering tension or stress. This can be especially beneficial for those who may have overindulged in alcohol or struggled to get enough sleep during the festivities. We personally did this after a long week, and after being up until close to 3 am, we awoke around 6 am to begin our post-wedding recovery and I have never felt more rested in my life than after experiencing the sound bath offered by Rosewood Mayakoba.

Moreover, the sound bath provides a sacred space for reflection and integration, allowing the couple, immediate family and wedding party to process their experiences, savor the memories of the weekend, and set intentions for the journey ahead as they embark on married life together.

Overall, whether used as a tool for pre-wedding preparation or post-wedding recovery, a sound bath can be a profoundly healing and transformative experience for those celebrating a wedding weekend, helping everyone to navigate the highs and lows of the wedding weekend with grace, ease, and inner resilience.

Now To The Accommodations:

Rosewood Mayakoba offers luxurious accommodations that blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the Riviera Maya, including unique features such as cenote-inspired jet tubs and private plunge pools.

Cenote-Inspired Soaking Tubs: Inspired by the mystical cenotes – natural sinkholes revered by the ancient Mayans – the soaking tubs in Rosewood Mayakoba private rooms offer a luxurious and immersive bathing experience. Each tub is elegantly designed to evoke the tranquil ambiance of a cenote, with its natural stone finishes, cascading water features, for soaking tired muscles and rejuvenate the body.

Guests can indulge in a sensory journey as they soak in the warm waters, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Whether enjoying a relaxing soak after a day of exploration or unwinding with a glass of champagne under the stars, the cenote-inspired baths provide a blissful retreat where guests can escape the stresses of everyday life and reconnect with themselves and their surroundings.

They also had a wonderful enclosed outdoor shower where you could shower in the rays of the sun while being serenaded by a choir of tropical birds, this was hands down my favorite way to start each morning! It was an amazing sensory experience.

Private Plunge Pools: For those seeking ultimate privacy and luxury, Rosewood Mayakoba offers accommodations with private plunge pools, allowing guests to enjoy their own personal oasis in the heart of paradise. Whether nestled within the lush foliage of the jungle or overlooking the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, each plunge pool is a secluded sanctuary where guests can swim, sunbathe, and unwind in absolute privacy. We were there when it was at 90% capacity on a weekend, and the resort pools had a handful of guests mingling which was such a nice change of pace to other crowded resort pools we have seen in the heat of summer. The personal touch of private plunge pools makes the resort pools consistently less crowded, and allows you to escape the heat and humidity in the privacy of your own space with the company you choose to invite to join you.

Surrounded by tropical gardens or stunning ocean views, the private plunge pools at Rosewood Mayakoba offer a serene and romantic setting for couples to reconnect and celebrate their love. Whether enjoying a refreshing dip in the morning sun or lounging by the pool with a tropical cocktail in hand. With a well stocked private bar in your room, and a personal host to assist with any additional needs, it makes enjoying your private space that much more enticing.

The lodging options at Rosewood Mayakoba offer a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and natural beauty, with an unparalleled experience of relaxation and rejuvenation in the heart of the Riviera Maya. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a tranquil escape, these exquisite accommodations offer a sanctuary where guests can immerse themselves in the beauty of their surroundings and create memories to last a lifetime.

Pro Travel Tips for the Riviera Maya:

In the Riviera Maya, the rainy season typically lasts from May through October. During this time, rainfall is more frequent, with short, heavy showers being common, often occurring in the late afternoon or evening. However, even during the rainy season, the region still enjoys plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, making it a popular destination year-round. Consider an indoor venue option with air conditioning when rainfall is heavier and peak travel season is lower. This is also the time of year where humidity is much higher, which means outdoor ceremonies/events along with hair and makeup can be easily and quickly compromised.

The best time to get married in the Riviera Maya is typically during the “dry” season, which runs from November to April. During these months, the weather is generally sunny and more dry, with lower humidity and minimal rainfall. This creates ideal conditions for outdoor ceremonies and beach weddings, allowing couples to enjoy the beautiful scenery and pleasant temperatures without the risk of rain disrupting their plans. However, it's essential to keep in mind that this period is also the peak tourist season, so accommodations and wedding venues may be more crowded and expensive.

So what are you waiting for?? Let’s do the dang thing and plan a wedding week at Rosewood Mayakoba, shall we?
