Inner Austin Wedding Venues | Epoch Co+ | Austin, Texas
We curated a list of some of our favorite venues surrounding Austin, Texas—today we’re going in with a guide to downtown Austin wedding venues (and yes, plenty of Austin hotel wedding venues). With cool hotels and ultra-chic spaces, narrowing this down was an Olympic sport. We also pulled together wedding mood boards we’d love to bring to life for the right couple or event at each space.
Fueled by a deep love of Austin—and the wild variety of styles you can find in downtown Austin alone—this set of mood boards practically designed itself. As a wedding planner in Austin, Texas, here’s where we’d host it, style it, and make it sing.
Commodore Perry Estate
First on the list looks like it was plucked right out of Italy. Owned by the Auberge Collection, Commodore Perry is a stunning estate found just north of central Austin. Meticulously and exquisitely designed by Ken Fulk, you won’t find another property like this. The Mansion and Sunken Gardens are where most of the wedding magic happens—and they’re crafted to perfection. The Mansion garden’s central fountain is a dreamy ceremony backdrop or the heart of cocktail hour. The Sunken Garden is our favorite: four sections with a central fountain, perfect for al fresco (or tented) dining. The stairs to the chapel and Lutie’s create another cinematic ceremony moment. The chapel doubles as a weather plan or late-night dance party zone. And Lutie’s—the gorgeous garden restaurant—works beautifully for a rehearsal dinner or post-wedding brunch.
Plannner Notes (Commodore Perry)
Spaces: Mansion Garden, Sunken Garden (tented or open air), Chapel, Lutie’s (ideal for rehearsal/brunch).
Flow: Ceremony at the fountain → Sunken Garden dinner → Lutie’s or Mansion terrace for dancing/cocktails.
One of the most elegant wedding venues in downtown Austin for garden-forward luxury weddings.
Lake Como, but make it Austin. Moody blacks + olive greens balanced with warm neutrals for a classy, chic, Italianate vibe that feels right at home in the Mansion gardens.
Next up is South Congress Hotel, found on—yep—South Congress Avenue. The hotel itself is a stunner: modern yet retro in a way that feels so Austin. On the first floor toward the back (away from the street), you’ll find three larger event spaces:
Courtyard: fabulous for larger ceremonies—lush trees + cool architectural sightlines.
Pre-function: perfect for cocktail hour as guests float from the Courtyard into reception.
Event Space: up to ~150 guests; a flexible, modern blank canvas ready for whatever your heart desires.
For intimate options, the on-site restaurants can be bought out: Maie Day (up to ~75 seated) and Café No Sé (up to ~100). If you want a space that is not just in Austin but screams “Austin,” SCH is it.
Planner Notes (South Congress Hotel)
Flow: Courtyard ceremony → pre-function cocktails (indoor/outdoor) → Event Space reception.
A top contender among downtown Austin wedding venues with true local soul.
Since South Congress Hotels’ event spaces are such a blank canvas, they can take color. Inspired by Provence + Champagne, we love lavender, buttercream, and grassy lime—a chic spring/summer palette (or a bold break from the herd in fall).
Hotel Magdalena is a newer love for us, but it was love at first sight. Tucked back on Music Lane, you’re right in Downtown Austin, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Previously owned by Willie Nelson and a 1970s haunt for musicians, ‘Maggie’ kept the retro vibe with modern polish. The look gives Mediterranean—wood, stone, and lush, slightly overgrown greenery.
For weddings, we love the Bobbie Nelson Room + Lawn (an indoor/outdoor flex for roughly ~150 guests). The lawn can absolutely take a tent if Texas does its Texas thing. And for pre-events? The pool + pool bar is a ready-made sunshine party for bachelor/ette or a welcome mixer.
Planner Notes (Hotel Magdalena)
Spaces: Bobbie Nelson Room + Lawn (tent-friendly), Pool + Pool Bar (pre-event fun).
Capacity: ~150 for BN Room + Lawn.
An atmospheric favorite for Austin hotel wedding venues that still feel tucked-away.
Give us maximalist monochrome. Magdalena’s warm neutrals can handle tone-on-tone pinks with retro moments that nod to the hotel’s ‘70s spirit.
Mattie’s at Green Pastures is an exceptional restaurant set right off Oltorf—surrounded by trees so you’d never guess how central it is. Once a historic home turned restaurant, it was renamed for the original lady of the house, Mattie’s at Green Pastures. Larger events fit in the Mezzanine (third floor of the house, up to ~50) and the Marion Hall/Pavilion (up to ~150 seated). The lawn is a gorgeous ceremony site with a flow that slides perfectly to the tented pavilion and porch for cocktails. And the food? Elevated Southern comfort that never misses.
New as of Fall 2025: Mattie’s now has a hotel on property, making it even more attractive for wedding weekends and room blocks.
Planner Notes (Mattie’s)
Spaces: Mezzanine (~50), Marion Hall/Pavilion (~150 seated), Lawn ceremony, on-property hotel (new).
Flow: Lawn “I do” → porch & pavilion cocktails → Marion Hall dinner → house dance party.
An iconic pick among wedding venues in downtown Austin for couples who want heritage + hospitality.
Real Wedding inspo:
Fall fête under the clear-top with live band in the main hall (modern meets old-world agrarian).
Wes Anderson-coded pattern-play wedding with a nerdy twist (periodic-table seating chart with guest initials + meal indicators—chef’s kiss for service flow).
With a deep love for Italy, and the vibes of the Amalfi Coast our Amalfi in Austin inspired this design aesthetic. Lemon-y yellows and light sea blues (plus stone + wood neutrals) for a breezy Italian mood that plays beautifully with the lawn and pavilion.
If you love club and rooftop energy, you’ll LOVE The Riley Building, two blocks from Sixth Street. With its all-black exterior and covered rooftop reception space, you can literally bring the club to your wedding. Downtown skyline, bustle, and a wrapped-up-there party vibe.
Seated capacity is ~150 and standing ~250 per floor. It’s tailor-made for a strolling reception (multiple chef stations to roam + try), anchored by cozy lounges so the party runs all night.
Planner Notes (Riley)
Spaces: Rooftop (covered), indoor floors; dramatic black exterior and urban views.
Capacities: ~150 seated; ~250 standing per floor.
A sleek, party-first option among downtown Austin wedding venues—great for night-owls.
With all the black and modern touches at The Riley, having ultra fun pops of color can really stand out here. A bright Persimmon paired with a fun, pink-y coral + cream + deep olive (hello, Sicily summer) will pop against the modern bones.
Austin Proper Hotel
Last but not least - you have to add Austin Proper to the list of iconic Austin hotel wedding venues—and a crown jewel for downtown Austin wedding venues lovers. Designed by our forever muse Kelly Wearstler, every detail is immaculate. The Quill Bar is painfully stylish and makes entertaining feel effortless, with in-house tables and lounges that save serious décor budget. We also love the lobby bar and ground-floor restaurant spaces for intimate rehearsal dinners or welcome drinks—perfect landings as your weekend kicks off.
We’re producing a swanky winter wedding here January 2026 (gallery coming!). Friday’s Quill Bar welcome party + ballroom moment will feature an old-fashioned bar and a mechanical bull (because Proper may be posh, but this is still Texas). Saturday’s event merges Wearstler’s design language with the bride’s elevated mid-century modern ranch style—seamless and stunning.
Planner Notes (Austin Proper)
Spaces: Ballrooms + Quill Bar + lobby bar + restaurant nooks (great for rehearsal/welcome).
Value: Stylish in-house lounges/tables are a major bonus.
A design-lover’s pick among wedding venues in downtown Austin with iconic hotel hospitality.
Callout — Planner’s Design POV
Wearstler, but wedding. Think inky blues, burnished brass, sculptural candles, and tailored florals—let the interiors lead while you add just-right flourish.
Why choose downtown Austin wedding venues?
Beyond the convenience? Downtown Austin gives you:
Walkable weekends for your people (bars, bites, coffee, repeats).
Built-in rain plans across many hotels.
Guest flow that feels effortless—ceremony, cocktails, reception, after-party, all within a few blocks.
And if you want that “we’re in Austin” feeling, these spots bottle it.
PRO-PLANNER TIP:
March - avoid SXSW week and premium rates that come with it, along with a high-demand for other rentals that make prices across the board skyrocket.
October - Fall weddings in Texas are ideal, but NOT for downtown Austin weddings. Check our surrounding Austin options if you insist on an October event. The first few weeknds of October are the annual ACL, and ~3rd weekend is usually F1, not to mention UT football games with SEC rivals makes the demand difficult to secure a room block for wedding guests.
And with a wide variety of concerts and shows throughout the year, check city event calendars before signing the dotted line to avoid costly mistakes. Or check below on how we can help!
