Outer Austin, Texas Wedding Venues | Epoch Co+

So you’re scrolling Google, searching for wedding venues outside of Austin, and wondering if you really want to drag your guests out of the city. We get it. But here’s the thing: the Hill Country, Georgetown, Driftwood, and beyond? They’re stacked with hidden-gem venues that give you space, scenery, and a whole lot more freedom than downtown.

As wedding planners in Austin, Texas, we’ve spent years exploring these spots with couples who wanted something fresh. Sometimes that means a modern white-walled chapel with sweeping windows. Sometimes it’s a greenhouse dripping with tropical plants. Sometimes it’s a historic mansion that looks like it walked straight off a movie set.

Bottom line: heading just outside Austin (or north toward Georgetown and Round Rock) opens up options that feel elevated, spacious, and way more you. Below are a few of our favorite venues where we’ve worked our design magic. We’ve not only curated a list of some of our favorite around Austin wedding venues, but also made wedding mood board ideas that we’d love to see (and help create) out at each venue! (Would you really expect anything less from wedding planners?)

What’s in this guide:

  1. The Grand Lady – East of Austin (Manor)

  2. The Greenhouse at Driftwood – West of Austin (Dripping Springs)

  3. Wish Well House – North of Austin (Georgetown)

  4. Prospect House – Dripping Springs

  5. Windemere Farms – South of Austin (San Marcos)

  6. Woodbine Mansion – North of Austin (Round Rock)

  7. The Arlo – West of Austin (Hill Country)

The Grand Lady

If your vibe is Southern charm meets modern flair, The Grand Lady delivers. Just east of Austin in Manor (aka just 30 minutes away from downtown), this venue is anchored by a historic mansion surrounded by sprawling grounds — perfect for ceremonies under the trees, tented receptions, or cocktails that feel like a scene from Sweet Home Alabama (the Reese Witherspoon edition, obviously).

As wedding planners in Austin, Texas, we love the flexibility here. The interiors are refined, but not fussy. The outdoor space can be styled intimate or expansive. And because the house itself is such a statement, your design can play off it rather than compete. It is the perfect getting ready haven, and can be the backdrop to your ceremony, or the perfect staging ground before you make your ceremony aisle debut.

Outdoors, you’ve got choices:

  • A ceremony site surrounded by trees,

  • A terrace overlooking the flower gardens,

  • Cocktail hour flow spaces connecting seamlessly between house and reception.

Planner Notes — Grand Lady logistics & design facts

  • House usage: Purely for getting ready + as a ceremony/backdrop moment (seamless aisle reveal from the house).

  • Grounds: Terrace overlooking on-site flower gardens (grown by the in-house florist!); manicured lawn between house and modern reception hall is great for cocktail hour.

  • Reception hall: Concrete floors, wood ceiling, black-framed windows, skylights; seats up to ~250 comfortably; takes color as well as minimal modern design.

  • Distance: ~25–30 minutes from downtown Austin; ~25 minutes from AUS.

  • Rehearsal dinner: Can host up to 50 the evening prior.

  • F&B & rentals: In-house bar required; venue offers helpful on-site rentals (bars, bistro tables, umbrellas, etc.).

  • Transportation: We highly recommend guest shuttles + a downtown room block.

To the left is a moodboard inspired by Don’t Worry Darling with a retro Wes Anderson twist. Think pops of citron + lagoon blue layered over peachy corals on the terrace — a modern-retro vibe that feels cinematic.

Next in our list is The Greenhouse at Driftwood. Located in the Hill Country, the grounds and the views are absolutely jaw-dropping. Indoors is styled beautifully for all your getting ready needs. This is where you’ll also find this venue’s namesake - their stunning greenhouse. With a stunning spiral staircase and gorgeous plants, the greenhouse makes for a stunning elopement spot, or the perfect place to sneak off with your S.O. for some pictures. Outdoors is where the Greenhouse at Driftwood shines - a tent slab, ready to customize to make it truly your own, a terrace surrounded and immersed in nature, and the grounds in between, it’s perfect for events big and small.

It’s one of those wedding venues outside of Austin that feels like a destination without needing a passport.

We love designing here because the venue does half the work for you: plants, texture, and light are already in abundance. Your florals and décor just need to enhance, not overwhelm.

Planner Notes — Greenhouse logistics & design facts

  • Venue style: Mostly outdoor; excellent for al fresco ceremonies + receptions.

  • Greenhouse: Dreamy for portraits, micro/elopement ceremonies, or a cocktail-hour reveal (spiral staircase + jungle vibes).

  • Event pads: Tent slab ready to customize; terrace immersed in nature; flexible lawn circulation for big or small events.

This mood board, inspired by the coast of Cabo will bring a fun pop to the al fresco vibe at this venue. Lots of shades of blue, balance with a touch of natural cashmere, and completed with a pop of tangerine. This will have you itching to go to Cabo to chill under a fun umbrella by the ocean.

Head north of Austin and you will find Wish Well House in downtown Georgetown, Texas. This home was Georgetown’s first hotel and has be immaculately redone to host weddings ideally expecting up to 150 guests.

Highlights:

  • Two styled getting-ready rooms with boho touches (and gorgeous for all those getting ready portraits and candids)

  • Main hall + courtyard for ceremony, reception, or both - whether you want an al fresco style dinner in the courtyard and dancing in the main hall, or ceremony in the courtyard - this venue can flex with the vibe you want.

  • In-house light wood tables (can stand alone or be layered with linens) - cozy seating in the foyer ideal for cocktail hour.

On the logistics side, Wish Well House requires in-house bar service (with indoor and outdoor setups available), allows outside catering, and is about 45 minutes from the Austin airport.

As wedding planners in Austin, Texas, we love that the venue feels both historic and fresh — a perfect blank canvas that adapts to your style without losing its character.

Texas-Wedding-Planners-Groovy-Anthropologie-Inspired-Wedding-Mood-Board

Inspired by the fun colors found in Anthropologie and an ultra groovy ‘70s vibe, we think this would make for an ultra cool pop in Wish Well House. Bases of teal with fun pops of scarlet and apricot and bringing in a warm, neutral grey, would be so fun in this all neutrals and white space.

Prospect House – Dripping Springs

Minimalist architecture meets Texas views. Prospect House is one of the most design-forward wedding venues outside of Austin. Its white walls, geometric lines, and iconic outdoor ceremony structure are basically begging for lush florals or bold color pops.

Cocktail hour flows easily through the indoor/outdoor flex spaces, and dinner inside feels sleek and intentional without being sterile. It’s the type of venue where every design choice looks elevated.

As wedding planners in Austin, Texas, we’ve styled Prospect House in multiple ways — from crisp, modern neutrals to vibrant installations. The versatility makes it a favorite for couples who want a space that adapts to their personality.

Planner Notes — Prospect House logistics & design facts

  • Canvas: Modern, minimal, architectural; everything reads clean and intentional. Creative wall for floral installs in flex space.

  • Flow: Ceremony outdoors → cocktails in flex spaces → reception indoors (or vice-versa if weather flips). Great flow for guiding guests through the various spaces for each part of the wedding.

  • Bonus: Jester King Brewery is close by and a great place for the groom and his group to hang while hair and makeup is taking place before coming to the venue for getting ready.

Windemere Farms

For couples dreaming of wide-open spaces but not looking to rent a million extras, Windemere Farms is a win. Moving South into San Marcos, this outdoor venue comes with an onsite sailcloth tent — yes, included — which makes Texas weather a little less scary.

The barn at the bottom of the property looks like it was plucked out of Ireland (which was exactly the owners’ goal). Moving up the rolling fields, passing the roaming bison and horses, you come to the gorgeous sailcloth tent that’s every outdoor receptions’ dream and a stone courtyard perfect for cocktail hour. While the tent and courtyard are perfect, nothing beats the view from the ceremony site. Even though San Marcos is technically just outside of the Texas Hill Country, you’ll think you’re right in the heart of it with the view here. They even have perfect getting ready/hideaway tents for you and your closest people. Windermere Farms is anything but your typical Texas barn venue, and is absolutely a must-see.

As wedding planners in Austin, Texas, we love that this space gives you the best of both worlds: outdoor Hill Country ceremony vibes with a tented reception that feels elevated, not like a fallback. Add in thoughtful lighting and lush tablescapes, and you’ve got countryside chic.

Planner Notes — Windemere logistics & design facts

  • Venue: Tent pad is leveled with turf, so logistics are handled (no DIY tent drama).

  • Getting ready: Hideaway tents included.

  • Distance: ~45 minutes from AUS; ~57 minutes from SAT.

Millennial Pink and fun patterns are at the forefront of this design. A fun pop of mint brings the pinks and greens to another level and reminds me of Charleston. Having something fun and spring-y under the tent with a fun circular bar inspired by the fountain to the left would be stunning at Windemere Farms.

Woodbine Mansion

If historic elegance is your vibe, Woodbine Mansion in Round Rock is queen. With its white-columned façade and manicured lawns sitting on almost two acres, it looks like something out of The Notebook.

The venue balances sophistication with flexibility: gorgeous outdoor ceremony spots, cocktail-ready porches, and an interior that makes guests feel like they’ve been invited into something special. It’s classic, but not cookie-cutter. You also can’t help but notice all the stunning chandeliers inside the historical mansion - 14 of which are original to the home. There is dazzling eye candy at every turn in this stunning wedding venue.

We’ve seen Woodbine dressed in soft neutrals and bold florals alike — it adapts beautifully either way.

Planner Notes — Woodbine logistics & design facts

  • Capacities: ~100 indoors for ceremony; up to ~220 outdoors for ceremony.

  • Tenting: Lawn is built to host approx 60’ x 66’ clear-top (we do not recommend clear tops in summer—heat = sauna; walls-off is an option if weather permits but prioritize guest comfort/flowers/vinyl longevity).

  • Distance: ~35 minutes from AUS.

  • Parking: No designated lot → plan shuttles and/or nearby hotel blocks.

  • Curfew: 11 PM music cutoff.

  • F&B: BYOB allowed with TABC-licensed bartenders; flexible approved caterers.

  • Afterparty & stay: Walkable bars/restaurants on Main Street; cute Airbnbs nearby. We love The Ruby Hotel for chic rooms and potential after-hours options.

    • Ruby quick facts: ~35 minutes from AUS; Saturday bar buyout only (historically $12k++ and 2-night room minimum; confirm current details when you inquire with The Ruby, or when we inquire on your behalf as your wedding planners); in-house bar required; outside catering allowed if F&B minimum met; Fridays/Sundays are open to the public (no buyout).

With the gorgeous outdoor space, bringing in some retro twilight vibes just sounds right at this Austin wedding venue. Purple and red is such an underrated color combination that photographs beuatifully, but bringing it to life with a touch of citrus-y oranges and yellows really brings this wedding mood board together.

The Arlo – West of Austin (Hill Country)

If “clean lines, big windows, and chic but not stuffy” had a baby, it would be The Arlo. This Hill Country venue west of Austin balances modern architecture with natural views, making it a photographer’s paradise.

Couples can choose between the sleek indoor chapel or the oak-framed courtyard for ceremonies. Inside, the reception hall offers soaring ceilings, natural light, and a blank canvas that feels refined but not restrictive.

What we love as wedding planners in Austin, Texas is the flexibility. The Arlo is a true design chameleon:

  • Minimalist chic with crisp neutrals

  • Floral-forward romance

  • Draped installations that create rooms within a room

  • Moody candlelit energy (Euphoria after dark vibes)

Even the chapel doubles as a flex space — we’ve used it for cocktail hour, buffets, late-night lounges, and afterparties spilling into the courtyard.

Insider notes:

  • 40 minutes from Austin airport

  • Capacity close to 300 guests

  • Requires guest transportation + room blocks downtown

Planner’s Design POV: This venue thrives on transformation. We’ve seen it stripped-back minimalist, decked-out lush, and completely reinvented with draping. It’s a space that truly adapts to the couple’s story.

Why Choose Wedding Venues Outside of Austin?

Sure, downtown Austin has energy. But wedding venues outside of Austin (and wedding venues north of Austin) offer benefits you can’t ignore:

  • More space for guests + design

  • Easier flow between ceremony, cocktails, and reception

  • Scenic backdrops built in (less décor budget needed)

  • Guest comfort with fewer traffic + parking headaches

  • Avoid the chaos downtown can have during sports seasons or traffic chaos in general

For couples who want a wedding that has character, feels expansive, intentional, and fun, these venues are worth the short drive.
